NATIONAL HISTORY INSTITUTE
It continues the prestigious institute of the same name founded in 1920, when the Romanian University in Cluj was established. Its headquarters is located in the building purchased in 1929 to house the team of professors-researchers concerned, in particular, with the history of Transylvania.

Babes-Bolyai University extensions are situated in 12 cities in Transylvania: Bistrița, Gheorgheni, Târgu Secuiesc, Năsăud, Odorheiu Secuiesc, Satu Mare, Sfântu Gheorghe, Sibiu, Sighetu Marmației, Târgu Mureș, Vatra Dornei and Zalău.

Research in UBB is conducted independently or in professional groups, using the facilities of the research infrastructure available. Affiliation to groups or research units is not conditioned or restricted, as any researcher can contribute to research topics pertaining to their specialisation, interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary.

The complex offers an Olympic-sized pool (50 x 20.6 meters), with 8 lanes equipped with starting blocks; with a water temperature range of 26-28 ºC and an ambient temperature of 28-30 ºC and a depth range from 1.80 to 2.00 meters. The complex features locker rooms and shower rooms on three levels, classrooms for students, offices for teachers and a medical office. It also includes an audience stand with a capacity of 556 seats.

You are welcome to discover the captivating cultural heritage housed by UBB museums: collections of ancient gymnosperms and palm seeds of the Botanical Museum, unique fossils of Transylvanian dinosaurs of the Museum of Palaeontology and Stratigraphy, collections of exotic and native fauna of the Zoological Museum and live reptiles of the Vivarium, large size crystals and meteorites of the Mineralogical Museum and antique objects and photos illustrating the development of Cluj education at the History Museum of Babes-Bolyai University.

The Botanical Garden covers 14 hectares, a varied land configuration suitable for the growth and development of plants from different continents. Around 10,000 specific categories are cultivated here, grouped for a better administration into several sectors: ornamental, phytogeographic, systematic, economic, greenhouses complex and the sector destined for persons with sight deficiencies - created recently in order to meet the needs expressed repeatedly by the community.
